Candidate Eligibility 
 
A potential LDP participant should be: 
 
  • A visionary future leader with passion and determination to serve the profession and society at large 
  • A qualified eye doctor 
  • Highly proficient in English 
  • Ideally aged 50 or younger 
  • Committed to participating in all elements of the LDP 
 
More program information can be found  . Selected participants are expected to attend:
 
  • The Orientation Class at the APAO 2025 Congress in New Delhi, India (April 3–6, 2025)
  • The 3-day mid-term Master Class in Chinese Taipei (August 15–17, 2025)
  • The Graduating Class at the APAO 2026 Congress in Hong Kong, China (February 5–8, 2026), where they will present a self-initiated LDP project.
 
APAO will cover the cost of organizing the symposia and workshop for the program, and congress registration fees will be waived for participants. Other costs, such as travel and accommodation, will be borne by the individual participant and/or the nominating party, as mutually agreed. Member societies are encouraged to support their nominated participants.
