ICO Awards and Medals to be awarded in 2024
Please note the following:
- A person is not
eligible if he or she received the same Award / Medal previously. Please
find this link (ICO
Award/Medal Recipients) for a list of those who received Awards /
Medals from the ICO in the past.
- Current members
of the ICO
Board are not eligible to receive ICO Awards and/or Medals, with the
exception of Honorary Lifetime members of the Board, who are eligible.
Nominations are called for the following ICO
Medals:
1. ICO
Bietti Medal
The Bietti Medal is awarded every four years to a
distinguished ophthalmologist in recognition of scientific and educational
contribution in ophthalmology and for facilitating international communications
in the ophthalmic community.
2. ICO
Bruce Spivey Ophthalmic Education Award
The Bruce Spivey Ophthalmic Education Award is
awarded every four years to an ophthalmologist doing outstanding work in global
education who, through innovation, development or application, has
significantly advanced ophthalmic education in a manner that enhances eye care
and the preservation of vision.
3. ICO
Jules François Golden Medal
The Jules François Golden Medal is awarded every
four years for ophthalmic work of high scientific quality.
4. ICO
Tadeusz Krwawicz Gold Medal
The Tadeusz Krwawicz Gold Medal is awarded every
four years to an ophthalmologist who has significantly contributed to the
advancement of ophthalmology, doing outstanding work in the treatment of
diseases of the anterior segment and/or introduction of new technologies and to
the advancement of international relationships among ophthalmologists.
