APAO LDP 2020-21 is Open for Nomination

Are you a young ophthalmologist looking for ways to advance your career? Do you want to improve your leadership, teamwork and collaborative skills?

Applications are now being accepted for the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology Leadership Development Program (APAO-LDP) Class XI, which will run from April 2020 to March 2021.

Am I Eligible to Apply?


Participants in the LDP should fulfil the following criteria:

  • A visionary future leader with passion and determination to serve the profession and society at large;

  • A qualified eye doctor;

  • Highly proficient in English;

  • Preferably younger than age 50.





All successful participants must attend the LDP orientation class at APAO 2020 in Xiamen, China, the LDP mid-year master class in August 2020 in Manila, Philippines, and the LDP graduation class at APAO 2021 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, as well as complete a self-initiated project.

LDP graduates may have the chance to serve as associate members of APAO Standing Committees.

How Can I Apply?

Interested parties should register their interests, before January 10, 2020, at the respective APAO member society, which will vet applications before nominating one selected individual to the APAO Secretariat. Individual applications submitted to the APAO Secretariat directly will not be accepted.
