ABSTRACT : Objective : To analyze the different cause of chin elevation on ocular bases.
Subjects and Methods : Seventy-six patients with chin elevation were examined in chin elevation, chin depression and primary position.
Results : The cause of chin elevation in 76 patients was ptosis (51.3%), incomitant strabismus (32.9%), mystagmus (3.9%) and problem about glasses (11.8%).
Conclusions : Chin elevation due to ocular reasons is assumed in order to optimize visual acuity, dampen nystagmus, maintain binocularity and/or foveal fixation.
