ABSTRACT : Intraocular aminoglycoside maybe
cause in severe visual loss secondary to retinal toxicity, aminoglycoside-induced retinal
toxicity (AIRT). We report a case of macular toxicity that occurred in a patient after
three-time repetitive intraocular injections of amikacin, one into the anterior chamber
and two into the vitreous cavity, within 4-day period for management of acute
postoperative endophthalmitis following cataract surgery.
