ABSTRACT The authors tested preoperatively and postoperatively for binocularity with the Bagolini lenses in adults with longstanding strabismus. All patients had not been surgically aligned within the first 2 years of life.

The findings suggest that surgery in this group of patients can confer the functional benefit in the form of improved binocularity. The results also suggest that the depth of amblyopia has an influence on the development 'of postoperative binocularity.
