ABSTRACT
Many
methods have been used to treat adnexal capillary hemangioma and some have
associated with serious complications in the longterm follow-up.
Four children with large
adnexal capillary hemangioma from Songlanagarind Hospital between May 1990
- October 1993, were treated with intralesional injection of corticosteroid.
A marked and lasting regression of the heman gioma occurred in all. This treatment
also proved effective in preventing amblyopia in children who had large hemangiomas
that occluded the visual axis, resulted in a reversal of the astigmatism in
duced by these tumors, and reduced the degrees of strabismus.
The advantages of intralesional
corticosteroid injection include ease of administration, speed of action,
freedom from side effects and without growth retardation.
