ABSTRACT We had conducted a prospective study on the effectiveness of topical ketoconazole 2% in fifty-four patients with dinical diagnosis of keratomycosis.

There were 30 males and 24 females. the average age was 44.I7+ -18.44 years. Most of the lesions (85.19%) were in the central location and categorised as moderate and severe grade of severity (88.89%). The most common comeal pathogens in this study are still Fusa, ium spp. Of forty-seven vatients observed. 36 (76.60%) patients were successfully treated with topical ketoconazole 2%. The average healing time was 30.55+ -14.41 days. Various factors that may affect the results of treatment were also analysed.

All of them, except for history of eye injury, did not appear to significantly influence the results. It is suggested that topical ketoconazole is a promising drug in the initial treatment for keratomy cosis.
